COMMON CHRISTMAS

There is a common feeling when Christmas comes around
A peace of mind that we feel must be found
The weather bends  to the tune of the season
The market places buzz with life unceasing

There is a common picture with a manger and a crib
A calm night sky laced with stars unbothered by the smooth wind
Groups of people in their cliques making memories
Beautiful moments with friends and families

There is true beauty in common Christmas
Real depth in the simple things when we don’t move so fast
Sometimes it dances to the tune of festivity and merriment
Other times to long-seen relatives in a clustered confinement

I think about common Christmas and I love life more
It brings me to a place of seemingly floating thoughts
All worries are put on a hold until after
Everybody becomes friends until later

It’s absolutely astonishing how irrespective of religion,
Everyone experiences the feel of Christmas truest form-
Sharing resources house to house; heart to heart
Feuds become pending; stomachs become fat

For me, there’s so much more to common Christmas
It’s beyond the fun, food, gifts and Santa Claus
I think it defines what common life should look like
I think memories justify the wild goose we find

The reality still remains no matter how simple;
There’s truly nothing common about Christmas
It’s not common to enjoy being with weird people
It’s not common to kill the buzz of the masses
Even if it’s just a short frame of time
The calm is epic which the season provides
As much as I’m rarely ecstatic about anything,
the potential of the period makes me quirk a grin
I know I’m me and you are you but
If there’s anytime we have anything in common
It’s common Christmas and it’s right now

Enjoy the holidays…
